It was during the 50's that Havana's most prominant musicians who played at the tourists clubs after their respective gigs would gather  for after hours jam sessions, fusing the  improvisations of jazz with Afro-Cuban rhythms and musical styles, giving it the name DESCARGA.
This edition of the Latin Perspective - History of Latin Jazz series takes you back to those earlier days of the Descarga era  thru its development and into its use in 21century Latin Jazz.  With landmark recordings from the early pioners and innovators  and contemporary artists who continue the tradition.
